Painted Coffee Mugs or Who is “Really” the Most Creative?

My sister in law Cindi and I are both relative newbies to the coffee set and just love talking about all the best ways to enjoy our new little morning friend.  While walking around Ogden, we wandered into a paint your own pottery shop.  Neither of us really needed or wanted to paint a garden frog or chip’n dip, but coffee mugs, why yeah. Let’s stop right here and say that of the two of us, I’m the creative one …we clear on that?  OK, then here’s how it went down.

I decided to be very precise and deliberate in my design for this most special addition to my morning ritual.  It would have a nice mustard and olive color scheme with a stenciled curly decorative design around the bottom.  Cindi didn’t really have a plan….

She was just winging it and trying a little of this and little of that…I don’t know maybe blue and green and brown and dots.

At the end of our session we left with the anticipation that we would pick up my fabulously designed mug and her wacky weird one in a few days.  You know what happened, don’t you?  I hear ya…Yep, you guessed it.  Cindi’s cup was ADORABLE!!! Mine was as boring as watching Wall Street Week.

So, what’s the lesson here?  The lesson is, we are all creative.

Too many people, especially women, are quick to say “I’m just not creative”.  Please don’t!  It’s not true.  All creativity or Art is from God, all we have to do is sit down with a little of this and a little of that and be the vessel that we are ALL created to be.

  1. They are both adorable! I have always wanted to go to Picasso's Cup Art Cafe at Lakeside Village in Lakeland to make a pasta bowl :)

    1. It's a lot of fun Merita. I'm sure there is a paint your own in California...try it!
